Meet our Pastor
Bishop Herman R. Parks, Jr.
Pastor Parks was born on September 12, 1962 in Belize. He moved to the United States at the age of six and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Pastor Parks was invited to Progressive Holiness Church by Marie Carelus, who was to be his future wife. Pastor Parks was pricked in his heart during his first visit to Progressive Holiness Church. He had never seen people shouting and praising God and he was compelled by God to return. Under the guidance and teaching of the late Bishop H.L. Brown, Pastor Parks married Sis. Carelus and became a member of Progressive Holiness Church. Pastor Parks tarried on the altar and was filled with the Holy Ghost in July of 1992, on the last night of the General Assembly. After a few years of teaching under the late Bishop H. L. Brown he became a Jr. Deacon in Progressive Holiness Church in Hempstead, NY.Soon after, he was called to start a work for the Lord in Greensboro, NC; and witness of this calling was made known through Bishop Brown to the congregation during an afternoon service in Hempstead, NY.
In 1998 Pastor Parks left all that he knew in New York and moved to Greensboro, NC. On October 4, 1998 the doors of Progressive Holiness Church in Greensboro were opened for service. For fourteen years Pastor Parks has worked tirelessly for the Lord by encouraging and praying for his people and preaching the whole word of God. He has been a humble servant, doing the work of the Lord winning souls for Christ. We thank you for helping us show our appreciation to our Pastor, Bishop Parks. Please pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen him to continue steadfastly in the business of winning souls for Christ.
